Kleyn Studio (Pty) Ltd ("we," "our," or "us") operates Pulse (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise handle your information when you use our App and website.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a Pulse account, we collect your name and optional profile photo. This information is stored securely in Firebase Authentication and Firestore.
Relationship Data
To connect with your partner, we store your relationship linking codes and relationship ID. These identifiers enable secure pairing between two users.
Mood Check-In Data
Each emotional check-in submission (happy, meh, down, need you) is recorded with a timestamp. This data is stored in Firebase Firestore and synced across your devices in real-time.
Usage Data
We track check-in timestamps and relationship streaks to calculate engagement metrics shown in the app.
Device Information
We collect Apple Push Notification service (APNs) tokens, iCloud account identifiers, and device information necessary for notifications and sync functionality.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Display your partner's mood and check-in status in real-time
- Send push notifications for check-in reminders and partner interactions
- Calculate and display relationship streaks
- Sync your data across all your devices using Firebase Firestore
- Update your home screen widget with the latest information
- Provide app features and improve user experience
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share your mood data with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or analytics purposes.
Infrastructure Providers: Your data is stored and processed by the following services:
- Firebase Firestore for real-time cloud synchronization
- Apple APNs for push notification delivery
- iCloud Keychain for secure credential storage
Partner Access: Your relationship partner can view your mood check-ins and profile information within the app. This data sharing is essential to the app's function.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to a valid legal request (e.g., subpoena, court order).
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement comprehensive security measures to protect your data:
- All data transmitted between app and servers is encrypted with HTTPS
- Firebase provides encryption at rest for all data
- iCloud Keychain secures authentication credentials
- App Groups container restricts widget data access
While we strive to protect your information, no security system is completely impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Privacy Rights and Controls
View Your Data: You can review your mood history directly in the app.
Delete Your Account: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through Settings. This action is permanent.
Disconnect from Partner: You can end your relationship connection without deleting your account.
Notification Control: You can disable push notifications in your device settings or through the app.
Data Retention: Notification logs are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted. Mood check-in data is retained for as long as your account exists.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Pulse is not directed at users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will immediately delete their information and account. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to Pulse should contact us immediately at [email protected].
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of Pulse after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
